Your opinion on Letter Drives

What do you guys think of Letter Fundraising Drives? Our department has several fundraisers throughout the year, but most bring in very little money. We have been reluctant to do a letter drive, but are now seriously thinking about it. We need to build a second station and equip it. We are looking at several options for funding the project, but will need some of our own funds. We also would like to go tax district within the next 2-3 years.

Any suggestions? Any concerns? Thanks everyone.
