  • Minitor Pager Help

Our fire department was able to obtain all new Motorola Minitor IV pagers through a fire act grant which I wrote. We are very happy with the pagers so far with one exception. We added stored voice to the pages, and when the tones are dropped and the stored voice kicks on it records the dispatch message from the Sheriff. However, it doesn't shut off and you hear nothing but static until we manually reset the pager using the side button. Is there anyway that we can open these pagers up and change this feature? It is highly annoying to most of us! We hate it! HELP if you can!

If you have advice on how to fix this, send it to me at [email protected]

    Thanks so much

Have your rep for the pagers check this out. We have Min II's and III's all with stored voice.I believe you can purchase them with 2 diffrent setting on the stored voice option. Our tone goes off then the pager will record 1 message for 30 seconds after the talking is over the pager will squelch for the remainder of the 30 seconds and then switch to monitoring the frequency. I think that yours might need to be tweaked to stop the squelching after this time.

Ours do the same thing, but it isn't all the time. I've found that if you turn the pager off, then turn it back on, that it will correct the problem, but just make sure you don't need to replay the message anymore before you do it. I still have to play with our programming software to see if we can fix it with that.

OUR DEPARTMENT IS STARTING TO SWITCH TO MINITOR IVS.THEY DO TEND TO BE HARD TO FIGURE OUT!
YOU WILL HEAR THE STATIC UNTIL THE ONE MINUTE RECORD TIME IS UP OR BY SWITCHING TO CHANNEL "B". IF YOU RESET IT BY THE SIDE BUTTON BEFORE THE MINUTE IS UP YOU MAY BE ABLE TO RECORD TWO MESSAGES.
        GOOD LUCK

It is a programming glitch by whomever programmed your units. TURST ME I KNOW >..........to preface that statement, I am in charge of radio and pager maintenance and purchases. We run an almost total Motorola station. Over the last several years we have purchased both III and IV units with varying degrees of trouble with programming from our local MOTOROLA dealer, who for whatever reason dont seem to know alot about their own software of hardware for that matter. So Like I said that is a few keystrokes away on the programming software and I hope your people know more than mine. GOOD LUCK !

It sounds like a progamming problem

My department has 24 Minitor III and IV's and we have not had any problem. I carry a III with stored voice and the only time I pick up any static is when I am near a computer. All I have to do is reset the monitor button and I don't hear any more static. As for storage, the Minitor IV should store a total of two minutes. The maximum length can be set to whatever you desire. One of my Captains played back 7 (yes 7) stored voice messages to prove that hers would hold that many pages. It all depends on the length of the messages.
