I think I did really well. I listened intently and asked questions when appropriate. All I have to do now is take my drug test and they vote to see if I get in on Monday, so I will find out Monday night if I get in. The suspense is KILLING ME.
So they had told me I would hear back Monday night. It is now Wednesday night. Anticipation is killing me. Aparently, he over exaggerated and it will take a week or so for everything to go through and for me to hear back.

Welcome to the firefighter application process. A mysterious land of limbo where time creeps by for those waiting to hear something and whatever time frame they give you should be doubled.
Best of luck! Stay safe.
Nothing is as unimpressive as someone who is unwilling to learn.

"Over-exaggerated"? Interesting choice of words for someone who is looking to come in as a fresh young face who is not hearing back as soon as they were hoping. It's a process, get used to it. Careful with how you represent yourself on here. Those that control the process are quite often watching here.
Time from turning an application to final approval by our commissioners is at least 5 weeks in my department, and that's if you turn in your application on our meeting night. If you turn it in the day after our meeting, add a month to that.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing at all against the guy. In fact, I think he is one of the nicest, "chillest" guys ever. I know it takes a while and he's just doing his job going through the process. I just didn't know it would take so long. I am basically watching my phone hoping it rings and always keep my email open just to see. I guess I'm just a little too excited to start. I do have to gain some patience.
But after reading a lot of the threads on here, I'm trying to strive for some things:
* Listening carefully and attentively
* Ask questions and for explanations, especially when I don't know or don't understand something
* Acting professionally and presenting myself as such
* Dressing professionally
* Not to seem like I know about things and that I'm an expert just because I read something about it on the internet
* Being reliable with everything I need to do in the application process
