I will soon be moving to laramie wyoming for a yr of school at wyotech and am anting to get on a volunteer dept or paid on call, im having difficulty finding a dept can anyone give me any help, ill be living on the outskirts of town kind of.

Laramie Fire Department is an all career department and there are no volunteer opportunities with them. They also provide the EMS service for the entire county so EMT volunteer/part-time possibilities are not an option either. There are a few volunteer fire departments in the county but they are rural and most of them are 20-25 miles away from Laramie. Phil Oakes would be a great contact to find out more information. Cheyenne is the capital 50 or so miles east of Laramie if that is an option for you and the next closest town/city to Laramie. They have Laramie County Fire District #1 which is a combination FD running around 1200 calls a year and LCFD #2 running about 700 calls a year. They also have AMR, a private ambulance company, with possible PT and FT EMT opportunities.
