What kind of stuff should you keep to yourself when answering questions, unless specifically asked?

For example, tell us about yourself? Should I mention my age, martial status, number of children I have?

Your question depends on the setting or environment.

For a volunteer dept, be honest and answer what they want to know.

If they ask what hobbies you have, keep it short and simple.

Example: "I like football and gardening".

Keep all of your answers short and to the point.

Example: "I am married and have 5 kids".

Example: "I am a Draftsman for XYZ Company".

Example: "I have some experience as a diesel mechanic".

Example: "I was in the US Army for 4 years".


Don't offer anything extra.

There will be time to have those discussions later as you begin to assimulate.

If they ask if you get a phone bill, just say.... "Yes."

Not... "Yes, I have a phone"
