Thanks for serving our country. ANY fire department you can get hired on is a good one. You will find that firefighter positions are EXTREMELY competitive. To be competitive you will need to enroll in fire science courses and put yourself through a Bsic Fire Academy at the junior college.

I am recently honorably discharged from the army as a SF medic. I am now working for AMR as an EMT. I was just wondering what you guys think I should do to prepare to get hired here in southern california? I was also wondering if anyone knew about the good departments down here and such. I am going to test for OCFA in April. I dont know anything about la county or la city. Are they good departments and how busy are they? I was thinking about taking fire classes online thru a jc here in orange county. I dont know i just need guidance
