  • Volunteers at a burn center?

Right now, I'm a certified EMT and am going through some fire science classes along with my GE classes for transfer. Next semester I will go through the academy and finish my FF1 cert. Then it's off to CSULA to get my BS in fire science admin and tech. But I want to start volunteering now so I have a good record and some experience and history for departments to look at when I get serious about applying for jobs in the future. My teacher mentioned that opportunities will be coming up for volunteer work and the burn center caught my attention. If anyone has any advice on which direction I should head so I can begin some of my volunteer work I would be very grateful...

any hospital exp. may help but your greatest help will be at a volunteer fire department. i have been in the service for 6 years now and loving it. i was hired shortly after my volunteer time began

If I could get on with a volunteer department I would start tonight...Volunteering at a burn center is a way to help me get onto a department. The competition here for jobs is very high.
