  • How to be humble??

Good afternoon, I hope this post doesn’t come across as rude or arrogant or cocky by any means because that is NOT what I am trying to do. I was recently hired by a department after being a reserve firefighter for 7 years. I now have been blessed working for a full time agency benefits retirement yadda yadda. I knew my co worker about 10 years ago as I worked with him ( he is not a nice person at all and his customer service skills are horrendous). Be that as it may He has only been a firefighter for a year. I know you can ALWAYS learn something from anyone age race years on the job.. whatever. But he talked down to us newbies and pretends like we don’t know anything. How do I pretend like when he shows me how to do something and I already know it .... how do I pretend to not act like I know it to make himself feel better like he is teaching me something. I honestly hope this doesn’t sound bad or me sounding like an arrogant ***** because that’s not me in the least. I hope this makes sense. Thank you for your feedback good or bad.

    Hummmm

I have been on the both sides.

On the learning side two thoughts,

You might want to listen the first time a "Item" is presented, because your current employer might have a certain way of doing things. Even though you are being presented something you have done before.

After, that well just let them talk ???

Plus if you are in a group of other new persons, they may have different levels of training, and instead of presenting the same idea to each person, it is done is a group setting.

On the teaching side, I sometimes have to catch myself and ask, Ok have you heard or done this before? If so, just let me know.

But, sometimes I feel I have to say it, just so I can say, well I told him do not light a match in a fuel gas cloud.

But, not matter what I try not to talk down to anyone.

Anyway, maybe last thought, as in some classes you have taken the same class for the hundredth time, just tune out

LAST thought, some people are just that way, and part of life in dealing with them. Maybe give it a few months, and if it continues have a private talk with higher up..... Maybe do it AFTER you are off probation, if you have that. .

Sounds like that dude is just that way.

Is he the only one showing you stuff? If you know that stuff because another firefighter taught you or you learned it in rookie school then you can politely tell him something like “Firefighter/Driver/Officer Joe showed us or taught us this the other day but I wouldn’t mind going over it again if you’re willing to show me/us.” He might say eff it and be done or he might still want to show you.
Also, if he has a customer service problem and is a problem for team cohesion then, in my opinion, your company officer needs to address that. You can bring it up to him and try to handle it at the lowest level possible first. Then company officer or senior hose man at your station. Take it higher if need be. The higher ups may have no idea about that.

Thank you, dear, I appreciate that you are sharing these tips which could help us to be humble with people. I also think that arrogance is not suitable for anyone. I am a student and looking for some of the best Political Science Term Paper Topics, but it should be like https://topicsmill.com/term-paper/po...-paper-topics/ this one because our Teacher has the same requirements as this. So, guys, you would do a favor for me, if you check the website, let me know an exact amount and time taken. I am very thankful to you guys.
