  • Need Some Advice

    Sorry if this has been done to death, but I have some questions. I am a 21 year old student at the University of North Texas. I will graduate in December with a degree in General Studies. I would like to become a firefighter. I dont really know where I should start though. My understanding is that some departments will let you take the entrance exam even if you have no certifications, and then train you if they decide to hire you, while others will require you to have certifications before you take the test. I have been looking at entering a fire academy in the spring after i graduate, would this be the best option? Should go ahead and take the exams i am qualified to take at those departments that require no certs? I don't really know where to begin. Any advice/info would really help me out a lot.

    Thanks

    Go for emt then paramedic , if you want to work in tx

    Dallas. Fw Arlington hire off the street but alot of competition

    Then once you have emt at least start applying

    You can do the ff cert online with two weeks onsite training through;

    Maybe even do ff cert this summer if you are not in class,

    And check this web for tx jobs;
