Took the test as well, again. Took last years test and made it to the final interview where I had an unfortunate (out of my control) experience with the mail and never received the letter to show up for the interview. When they give you a time frame (like 4 weeks) they stick to it, very organized structure and testing process. Don't be afraid to call them if you don't hear anything in the time frame they state. Good luck everyone!
Charlotte is a beautiful city. How many took the written this year? I recall counting about 1200 in '06. I wasn't contacted after I passed the CPAT in July. I think I received an email sometime in November saying that they were no longer processing my application. Good luck to everyone in the process.
Beaner51, was last year your first time taking Charlotte's test?
Yes it was, luck of the draw I guess. I would say this years attendance for the written was about equal to last years, 1 thing we got going for us is the opening of the new station = 2 classes next year.
I was pretty stoked that they were hiring for 2 classes. They hadn't said anything officially about that until the test. They said there were a lot fewer applicants this year than last.
So maybe 1:12 chances of getting hired this year... 2 classes of 50 and maybe 1200 applicants there.
Good luck to everyone, see you at the practice CPAT.
Is it 2 classes of 50 or 2 classes of 25 each? The way I understood it, they are going to have 2 classes of 25, 1 starting in January 08 and the other in July 08?
I'm not sure how many are in a class I've always heard it's in the 30s or 40s. I'm thinking they will be maxing the class # due to a lot of new positions (2 Battalions worth from what I hear) and it is quickly coming up on retirement for the baby boomers.
I work for the city and there have been a group of CFD retirements in every news letter.
We had a dozen or so from our job (DCFD) take the exam. One of them said that Charlotte is expanding stations and adding a 4th shift like we have. Anyone know if this is true?
