    Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is one of the most important holidays for many women. Some men just don’t get it. For them it’s like trying to get women excited about Super Bowl Sunday. There are many guys who have this one figured out. Some guys though think it’s just another day for them to mess up. Many think it’s just another Hallmark holiday, a conspiracy by the card and flower folks.

One year, during the week of Valentine’s day, a guy was in my wife’s office making repairs. The gals in the office asked him if he knew what important holiday was that week? He didn’t. When they told him, he said, “Yeah, I know, Valentine’s Day is between Christmas and summer.” He said, “I would have known in a day or so anyway because I’m on a guys’ hotline. We have been in so much trouble in the past that we formed this guys’ phone hot line. If one of the members becomes aware of an event of importance, he calls the rest of the guys.” This could have national significance.

If you want to see a pathetic sight, go into a florist after 3:00 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. There will be a hoard of men milling around bumping into each other, completely out of their element. They waited until the last minute again, charged in, waited in long lines, paid a high price, and probably did not get their first choice of the flowers they wanted because they waited too long—again. But these guys know if they don’t go home with flowers, their sweetheart is going to have the oven door open, the gas on, and her head inside.

Valentine’s day is on Wednesday February 14, 2007. Don’t wait! Costco has a great selection of roses and other flowers in the $12.00 price range. Unless your loved one begs for carnations don’t go cheap and buy them silly. You can get two dozen different color roses for around $25.00 (cut off the Costco sticker). Get your flowers on Monday or Tuesday before Valentine’s day on Wednesday to get the best selection and beat the crowds. Deliver them the day you pick them up so your lady can be more than surprised and you can get some extra mileage. If you can deliver them to her work, all the better. Don’t worry, there is always a vase fairy that will appear with the vase. The other women in the office will always believe you’re a great guy!

“The rose speaks of love silently in a language know only to the heart”—author unknown

Don’t forget the card!!! Get the card now! Or, you’ll end up with the card that reads, “Happy Valentine’s Day Aunt Millie.”

Don’t ever buy the card that reads, “I know I don’t always tell you how much I love you, etc. That’s cr*p. Get the card that’s filled with all kinds of “forever I love you’s, through the years, how much you mean to me, darling.” I love you to the 10th power. It will be so icky sweet that it will stuck to your hand. You will never understand what it means but your lady will. Don’t be surprised if you deliver this kind of a card you lady will read it, look up and have tears coming down her cheeks. Hugs and kisses to follow. Consider getting 3, that’s right three cards and give them out during the day.

According to a Roper report poll of 1,994 adult women, here are the top five most romantic gestures:

    A weekend getaway 55%
    Long-stemmed roses 50%
Candlelight dinner at a restaurant 47%
    Other flowers 32%
    A love letter 31%

Dinner on Valentine’s night? If you don’t alredy have reservations it will be difficult to get them without being held hostage unless you’re going out for Chinese. It’s kind of like amateur night on Valentine’s Day anyway. Not the best night for good service. Consider going out Monday or Tuesday night?

I am one of the lucky one's, my wife hates flowers and think they are a waste of money because they die. She would rather get something for her Raptor 700. And when she gets something for her quad, I get something for mine, its a win win.
