  • Conditional Offer

    Hey guys.. wanted to ask..

I recently got a conditional job offer last week. The strange thing was that it was after the medical exam, drug test, and the background.. now how does this normally work? The academy starts late next month. With the "conditional" job offer in a situation like this.. will they knock you out of the process before the academy for something negative? Or is the conditional job offer an actual job offer and they will get the results back while you are IN the academy, and then fire you if there is something negative? Not that I am worried, just wondered about this situation. We have completed new recruit paperwork and everything but only on the conditional job offer.

confusing???? What did the letter say? Was it conditional on a psych, poly or results of the testing you already had?

Capt Bob, conditioning on the tests I already had (agility, drug, medical, background). no poly or oral interview

Usually....from what I've seen, the "conditional" is then followed by an "unconditional" offer indicating all the preliminary and final processing is completed (medical complete including blood work which can take a few days, big thing is probably background; some paperwork trickles back in I imagine)

        Good luck

          ffbam,

do you know if that is before or after the academy has already begun?

The unconditional is usually the greenlight that everything was good and all the steps have been successfully passed.

I have heard in at least one instance where a member was removed during the academy for something that came back from the background. Don't know what, but also could be hearsay.

In my experience, the conditional job offer is quite a strange animal. Bottom line, unless you have it in writing that 'this is your academy date' from the department, don't quit your previous job...

Trust me, I did and got poked.

Well guys I get fitted for my gear next week.. still no final job offer, the guy at human resources had told me that the conditional offer was pretty much the job offer, but anything can happen and there's always a chance something could come back. But I imagine this is a good sign and am all but hired??? Still don't wanna get my hopes up but this is the farthest I've gone.
