So how did everyone do on the written? Are you guys headed to Omaha on Monday for the video and CPAT? Has anyone taken this video test and what should I expect? Good luck to everyone in the next step. Also, any ideas on how many they will be hiring? Thanks for the help.

      Mack,

How did it go?? Being from out of town, did you have to take the physical test and the video test on the same day?

As for the written test....I scored worse this time around than I did the last time....just as I had thought. I studied just as hard...knew what to expect...and still didn't have time to answer the last 15 questions with any confidence.

I'm going to have to score REALLY high on the video based test even to make a decent number on the eligibility list.

      Good luck!

        Crow,
I passed the physical, it wasn't too bad if you are in shape, just remember to keep a quick steady pace throughout and you will be fine. As for the video test, I took it the day before the physical so that I wouldn't have to make an additional trip later on. It was okay, hard to know if I gave the answer they are looking for, but I answered them as best I know how. They said that I won't know how I did until after everyone else takes it, so sometime mid to late April. The wait is tough, especially after I found out I didn't do so well for another department that I was hoping to get on at. Good luck with the video test, I wish I could give some advice on it, but I don't even know if I did well.

          Mack,

You must not have seen the post I made in another thread....I kind of gave a rundown of what to expect on the video test. I took it the last time Omaha tested...I passed it....but didn't fair too well....so it will be interesting to see how I do this time around. Yeah...it's hard to get a feeling of how well you did on that video test. I also thought that on some scenes....the fire department would actually give you instructions on how to deal with the scenarios at hand. They claim that you don't need prior experience...but I think it would help in some cases.

Yeah....the physical test isn't that hard...it's just a matter of not psyching yourself out on the stepmill. After that, I don't think it's that bad. I'm more concerned with messing up with the ladder raise or something like that than I am not making it through on time. I was able to do one practice run through of the physical test and made it with 2+ minutes left.

Good luck the rest of the way!
