    • Hey would it be a bad idea to call recruitment and just talked to somebody saying hey I've been in the pool for some months now and I just wanted to let you know I'm still 100% interested and committed to joining fairfax county and doing my best to be as asset to the dept if I am ever hired. Any feedback would help thanks

I don't know. On one hand I'd say it couldn't hurt, on the other hand, it's like... you're in the pool already, so it kinda doesn't make a difference even at best. It sounds like you're probably just feeling antsy and trying to find something to do just to relieve that anxiety, rather than because it might actually have any real effect. I would personally err on the side of not calling, but if you had some kind of update to your application to report, you might have some kind of excuse to. Maybe get a little bit of info out of them at the same time.

I finally got called up for a medical. Haven't heard a peep since the written exam results in... July(?). In any case, at least something's moving and hopefully they process medical/poly/psych in batches like other depts. and the rest goes relatively quicker afterwards.

So I did something like that while I was waiting for poly to be rescheduled. I was given a loose timeframe of when I can expect to be rescheduled and as soon as I got close to the deadline I called. I also may have stretched the truth and said something to the affect of "I was told to call about this time if I am still interested to reschedule my poly." We all know I was never told that but I was antsy. I feel it can't hurt, especially if you have heard from or spoken to recruitment in some time (if you call every week then disregard everything and don't call). But I agree with VAVol703, it helps if you have a reason to call vs just calling to check in.

Also, instead of calling, you can shoot an email. Email would be easier for you as well as LT. Williams to respond without taking away from whatever they are currently doing. I saw that the department is giving another written test in April it seems like so I'm sure they are doing a lot in Recruitment.

The official class roster hasn't been sent yet so there's that for what it is worth.

          • I sent them my interest email when I got my completion letter. They just acknowledged it by saying thank you. I may send one to confirm my profile is updated for my medic class.

            • Alright thanks for the advice I guess I am feeling antsy. Not to sound cocky but I'm just trying to figure out if there's a chance at me getting hired cause I got my letter in August I only had to do one poly which in their process from what I've read on here is almost never heard of and I even have vet preference so I was just thinking my call would of came around the time some people on here got theirs if I was gonna be in February's class

I know the feeling. The lieutenant in my medic class is a long time friend of Captain Mensah, so he's trying to get some info for me about what's going on.

                      • blachatch. Would you be able to find out when the next rounds of polygraphs will be. Been waiting since sept. Thanks

                        • I have no way to find that out. Recruitment has thousands of applicants to deal with so it will take time.

Just update them with any certs or classes you take to make yourself stand out,and shows your interest in the job.

                          • I was at my buddy's station Saturday working out with them and talking about the academy and such and when I told them that the current class size is 51 they were all shocked because everyone (from captain down to their rookie) had all heard the number would be 80. They also heard that a lot more of the class would be medics.

Now I know things change and everything is pretty much hearsay, but its something interesting I heard so I figure I would share it.

                            • Just called recruiting to update my profile, and was told that the next class is filled. Can anyone else confirm?

Also, I'm coming close on my 2 years on wait list. Anyone hear of cases of candidates actually being dropped because of this?

Thanks all for sharing the info.

I applied back in 2010 and waited the 2 years without a phone call. Got a letter from them telling me I needed to reapply and go through the process again.
