ANY Fire Dept. that take laterals?

As to the rumor that the City of Albuquerque Fire Dept(A.F.D.)is going to hire laterals, that is a negative. We hired two classes of laterals about a year ago.
Currently, there are no plans to do it again. And, if the general feelings among the rank and file on the street are any indicator, it deffinatly will not happen again any time soon. Unfortunatly, there is some resentment towards the lateral hires. I'm not really sure why.
We have a class going thru the Academy right now. They were hired by the usual testing process.
The A.F.D. hires about twenty or thirty firefighters each year. Contact the A.F.D. Academy to be notified when testing is to begin. The test is given every year as the list is only good for one years time.

Lateral
Firerecruit.com has alot of lateral positions advertised. It cost $7.20 a month though. I feel it is worth it if you get the job you want.

If you know of ANY Fire depts. that will take laterals please let me know.
Thanks!
A job where you go in as a FF/Capt, or FF/Medic? If so yes, lots do. If they are hiring for the positions.
If you are asking for if they will keep your 8 years seniority, Usually Not, some county/City combinations might do it. OR your best bet, if you are PERS (Retirement system), you can sometimes trade to another state if they accept PERS transfers.
However, In-Department, you are usually a newbie even with 20 years experience. You dont know the area, the trucks, the types of calls, departmental policies and procedures, and you dont know the people you are working with.

There's quite a few depts. in CA that take laterals. San Jose, San Francisco, Sacramento, and many others hire laterals about once a year.
They all require a medic license, however.
Hope this helps.
