  • Good morning everyone! To all those that are anxious, I initially processed in March of 2019 and didn’t get a call until March 2020 from BI. So patience is a virtue. My question is now regarding my BI. It is a crazy time in the world obviously , but my BI contacted me in March and I Didn’t hear from him. After 6 weeks I called and he said that the packet was “completed and handed off” to his supervisor and then HR should get it. Is that regular protocol or should it go straight to HR? I lived in the suburbs at the time (just moved to the city 2 days ago) so there never was a house check, but it’s odd that he didn’t call to tell me it was done and is very vague when it isn’t said whether you “passed” and you are moving to medical or you “failed” and you won’t be moving on. This could all just be in my head and I’m sure the city has their hands full, I just wanted to know what your BI said to you when you got the call about your background being done. I have no email about scheduling medical as well as people are messaging about receiving as of last night.

Cool. How far do they stretch them out before the academy? How long does it take to hear back if u passed?

I think you showed way too much patience waiting a whole year for the BI. There have been three classes after your processing date, and I know quite a few who made the July ‘19 class from March. You were forgotten about. You won’t receive any confirmation that you passed the BI. One day you’ll just get the medical invite.

There are always several medical signup dates, usually a month or two before the academy. If you haven’t received a medical notice, be patient. More will arrive.

I always say this, but everyone going to the medical signup day needs to be there very early. If they say it starts at 9, be there at 730. It’s a very under appreciated step in the hiring process. You’ll select your medical date according to when you arrived at FAS. This could be the difference in making the next class or not. If I would have had the medical a week earlier, I would have been able to see a specialist, be cleared, and make the Dec 19 class. It was entirely my fault, too. I’d guess if i showed up 15 mins earlier it would have made all the difference. Instead, I started in March. Not a huge delay, but with you guys going through now you have the fear of a 500 million dollar deficit for 2021 staring you down.

Everyone preaches patience on here, then I show it and I’m too patient. Lol. Can’t win sometimes. However, I did try multiple times to call, but let’s just say HR is less than accommodating when asking about things. I would guess if I wasn’t invited to schedule medical with the batch of emails last night and its been a couple weeks since my file moved on, then there might be a snag?

Also, now that I’ve moved, do I just need to bring in the lease, updated DL, and city stickers? Thank you guys for all the information you help everyone with that are going thru this for the first time.

Just read this! So that answers the first question. Thanks again!

I get what you mean, I’ve read the double talk here too. The difference is you were overly patient waiting a year for the BI, while hundreds who processed after you were getting called and moving forward. Believe me, that’s not unusual either. Nothing you can do now but just continue on and make sure another year doesn’t go by.

Try emailing them instead. That way, everything is on record. I feel people on here get better results that way with a response. I wouldn’t think there’s a snag, it’s unknown how many people have completed their medicals and are waiting to be hired. Maybe they only need one group. I doubt it, but just wait to see if any more people here start posting of additional medical sign up dates. If you don’t hear anything, email them.

Yes, definitely bring in all updated information to FAS.

                • Got an email last night for Medical Scheduling... Is this something that’s quick or should I plan on being there for a while? Trying to see if I should be dropped off or have my ride wait for me. Thanks..

                    • So they're inviting for medical processing 7th referral candidates completed with CPAT and BIs (which was just turned in last week) before 6th referrals with the same, which have been completed for months? Seems to defeat some of the purpose of the referral list system.

It defies logic. My theory is, everyone who completed their BI’s more recently are simply on top of the proverbial pile. But don’t count yourself out yet, I’m sure more medical dates will follow. Although if Monday comes and goes without an invite, I’d consider sending a polite email reminding them you’ve completed your BI and CPAT and was curious if a medical invite is coming up.

                        • I just emailed HR stating I processed 11/14/19 turning in A complete packet, and just renewed my CPAT Due to Corona Virus and if I’ll be receiving a Medical Date. They responded via email, “ CFD wil contact you going forward.“

Same. Which I have no problem waiting in the ordinary course of processing timelines. However, they shouldn't be processing 7th referrals before 6th, IMHO. I understand you're going to have some overlap, but they should avoid creating these situations when they can, otherwise you'll have many confused/worried candidates which only prompts further emails and unnecessary headaches for everyone.

No offense to anyone in the 7th referrals. We too, have been waiting patiently though.
