Forum Posting Guidelines:

Posts must be on-topic, non-disruptive and relevant to the firefighting community. Post only in a mature and responsible way that contributes to the discussion at hand. Posting relevant information, helpful suggestions and/or constructive criticism is a great way to contribute to the community.

Post in the correct forum and have clear titles for your threads.

Please post in English or provide a translation.

There are moderators and admins who handle these forums with care, do not resort to self-help, instead please utilize the reporting option. Be mature and responsible for yourself and your posts. If you are offended by another member utilize the reporting option. All reported posts will be addressed and dealt with as deemed appropriate by Firehouse.com staff.

Firehouse.com Moderation Process:
Effective immediately, the following moderation process will take effect. User(s) whose posts are determined by Firehouse.com staff to be in violation of any of the rules above will EARN the following reprimand(s) in the moderation process:
1. An initial warning will be issued.
2. A Final Warning will be issued if a user is found to be in violation a second time.
3. A 3-day suspension will be issued if the user continues to break the forum rules.
4. A 45-day suspension will be issued if the user is found to be a habitual rule breaker.
5. Habitual rule breakers that have exhausted all of the above will receive a permanent life-time ban that will be strictly enforced. Reinstatement will not be allowed – there is no appeal process.

Subsequent accounts created in an effort to side-step the rules and moderation process are subject to automatic removal without notice. Firehouse.com reserves the right to expedite the reprimand process for any users as it is deemed necessary. Any user in the moderation process may be required to review and agree to by email the terms and conditions listed above before their account is re-instated (except for those that are banned).

    Loudoun County Fire and Rescue (LCFR) is a combination career/volunteer organization comprised of close to 600 employees and 800+ active operational and administrative volunteers.     LCFR is a member of the LC-CFRS, comprised of 15 volunteer Fire/Rescue agencies and the career department, with the career Chief serving as the System Chief.     Loudoun County Fire and Rescue is currently seeking qualified applicants to establish an eligibility pool for the position of Firefighter/EMT. Selected candidates are expected to provide skilled emergency and non-emergency related services, including, but not limited to: fire suppression, basic and advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care, hazardous materials incident response, technical rescue operations, life safety and public education program delivery, and other duties, as assigned. All candidates will be required to successfully complete a Fire-Rescue Recruit School before being assigned to a County fire and rescue station.

    ALS Benefit: We are seeking Advanced Life Support (ALS) Providers to join our organization. Upon local authorization, an Intermediate or Paramedic will become eligible for a $10,000 one-time, lump sum incentive, in addition to an ALS market adjustment. ALS Market Adjustments (in addition to base salary): Intermediate - $12,000 (Total salary ? $55,636) Paramedic - $14,000 (Total salary - $57,636) JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates must be at least age 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED by May 1, 2019. A valid driver?s license is also required at the time of hire. As part of the selection process, applicants may be disqualified for use of drugs, certain driving violations, or other factors based on selection criteria. Bi-lingual candidates are preferred. Successful candidates must be tobacco-free and nicotine-free, both on and off duty, at the time of appointment and remain tobacco and nicotine free for the duration of their employment with Loudoun County Fire and Rescue.     Preference will be given to those candidates possessing one or more of the following: VA Intermediate, VA Paramedic, or National Registry Paramedic, Loudoun County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Experience and/or Military Experience. POST CONDITIONAL OFFER CONTINGENCIES

    The selection process may take between five and seven months and includes the successful completion of: a Comprehensive Written Examination, Physical Ability Test, Polygraph Examination, comprehensive background check, to include NCIC/VCIN criminal history check, fingerprinting, a driving record check, NFPA 1582 Medical Examination/Substance Abuse Screening, and an in-person interview to be placed in the eligibility pool. The number of candidates selected to move through each stage of the process will be based on the number of available vacancies. Upon completion and submission of your county application, applicants will be emailed a supplemental questionnaire that must returned per the instructions. Failure to complete the questionnaire will result in disqualification from the hiring process.

    Please note, all written testing will occur April 29th through May 3rd. Physical agility testing (PAT) will occur between the first three weekends in May (4/5, 11/12, 18/19). There will not be any additional dates available for either of these steps in the hiring process. The PAT is a proprietary test administered by Loudoun County Fire and Rescue. CPAT certifications are not recognized and will not be accepted in lieu of the test.

      We should be 100-105% of the median regional pay when the study is implemented as well as step and grade. It gets presented to the BOS next month. Long over due.

            Does Loudoun have a lateral academy or program for current FFs in the nova region?

            Is everyone on shift work or is much of the department assigned to day work?

              We do not have a lateral. Fairfax does one occasionally. Prince William County and Fauquier do them often.

              Most of Loudoun is in shift work (24/72). There are a handful of day work stations ( 7/12), but they are dwindling. Hopefully we will go all 24 in the next few years as the volunteer system continues to diminish.

                              Yea I'm over in Maryland. Loudouns schedule is definitely attractive man, and its a nice area to cover. Plus the Dept is growing. definitely a great place to get in if you can!!
