I got that email as well. I do know that all four departments just hired off of the 2017 list last month and that they were closing that list out. Standard rule of thumb is 8 weeks to prep for CPAT, which would track with that June 15th CPAT date at Wayne Township. We could be up early or it could have been a standard email to everyone? I don't know.

I got the second email as well. I would assume they sent that email to everyone who has a score above the cut off. They are not giving out rankings so they could hire anywhere off the list, ex: legacy, diversity, paramedic/emt, etc. Good luck to everyone. Hard parts done, just a waiting game now.

It'd be interesting to find out how many people got that email though. I know FD hiring processes are a lot different than any other job you can get...but I would imagine that as that first email said that you will be given ample notice to obtain the CPAT card. Then 20 minutes later I get an email saying; "Oh, hey...you need a CPAT card that expires after 6/18" that would be a sign that there was interest in moving forward...but...again, as I said...these processes are soooo much different than any other job I've ever applied for.

The email says that if you have a current card, it has to have been issued after June 2018. Not expired.

also, they really didn't give us a date to have a current one by either. Do you guys read it as they're saying get one now? Because the first email said you will have time. I find it kind of confusing between the two. Especially if everyone got the 2nd email.

So far, everyone I know (about 7) has received second email. All in this thread received it as well. I find it served as an informative email. Nothing more.

So, the way I've read the email (and my wife who is a paralegal for the State has also read it) is that they would contact you for next steps and that if there will be next steps you'll be given ample notice to get a CPAT card. Typical prep time is 8 weeks, and that would be taking a practice run next Saturday, then another run on 5/18 with the real test on June 15th.

It's possible, but, I feel like that if it was an "informative email" that it would have been sent out with that first email, wouldn't you agree? Also, I have heard that Carmel wants to do a big process because they got that truck company approved and they want it to be operational before December. They've got 3 shifts, and that's anywhere from 12 to 20 people just to fill the vacancies created by transferring people from other engine companies. I really think that they're going to hire a lot of people from this list, otherwise they wouldn't have done a joint hiring process.

I think anything is possible. Each department has or will create their own list. I?d be surprised if that email wasn?t informative since each is independent of one another is all. Definitely not ruling out any speculation or theory. Don?t know until you know at this point

My understanding is that there is a joint list that they will pull from. Scores also don't mean anything either (hence why they don't tell you your ranking.) I was talking to a guy at Noblesville a few years ago and he said that he scored pretty low on his combined when he did the process in 2011, but because he was a licensed EMT-B he was in the first class that they did. That National Registry test is no joke, and you have to pass it in order to work in Indiana and at these departments everyone is a Firefighter/EMT or a Firefighter/Paramedic. Literally the hardest test I have ever taken and I'm working on my master's in Fire-Rescue Executive Leadership. There was a guy in my EMT class who was retaking the class because he failed the national test three times, did the remedial training and failed another 3 times. He finally passed it on the 7th attempt.

This is true, but if they want you to have it by June 15th, I feel like they should have said "you have until June to get it" or something along those lines. No dates were mentioned which why is seems odd to me.

nonetheless, I hope we are all in the first class together! Out of 300 and some, I wonder what is considered a good combined score? A friend from Noblesville has told me that he heard the lowest written score taken to the interview was an 86, but if that's true, I would guess our interview scores were probably lower than our written just because it would be more difficult to make close to a 100.

I'm just speculating based off of what the guys that run the CPAT training program at Wayne Township have said that it takes 8 weeks to prepare. You're required to get 2 practice sessions and a real session. The recommended time frame is within 8 weeks. There's a test on 4/27, 5/18 and 6/15, sooo in my head I'm thinking that the summer dates that some people have been saying that they'll start hiring off of this list seems to be lining up. I wonder if the people who got this second email have valid NREMT certifications? Wife and I did the Christmas gift delivery at CFD and they were all saying that having the EMT certification is a huge boost. On Christmas Day we dropped off breakfast to our nearest first due in Fishers and they all said the same thing that NREMT is the biggest boost you can have.

Do you have a current CPAT card? I'm wondering two things here.... 1) was this email sent out to anyone who didn't have a CPAT card? (I don't have mine yet, figured it was a waste of $150 if I wasn't moving on) 2) if you did apply with a CPAT card was issued before or after June 1st of 2018? The email said it has to be issued after June 1st of 2018. This process is playing out a lot different than any other job I've ever applied for.
