Posts must be on-topic, non-disruptive and relevant to the firefighting community. Post only in a mature and responsible way that contributes to the discussion at hand. Posting relevant information, helpful suggestions and/or constructive criticism is a great way to contribute to the community.

Post in the correct forum and have clear titles for your threads.

Please post in English or provide a translation.

There are moderators and admins who handle these forums with care, do not resort to self-help, instead please utilize the reporting option. Be mature and responsible for yourself and your posts. If you are offended by another member utilize the reporting option. All reported posts will be addressed and dealt with as deemed appropriate by Firehouse.com staff.

Firehouse.com Moderation Process:
Effective immediately, the following moderation process will take effect. User(s) whose posts are determined by Firehouse.com staff to be in violation of any of the rules above will EARN the following reprimand(s) in the moderation process:
1. An initial warning will be issued.
2. A Final Warning will be issued if a user is found to be in violation a second time.
3. A 3-day suspension will be issued if the user continues to break the forum rules.
4. A 45-day suspension will be issued if the user is found to be a habitual rule breaker.
5. Habitual rule breakers that have exhausted all of the above will receive a permanent life-time ban that will be strictly enforced. Reinstatement will not be allowed – there is no appeal process.

Subsequent accounts created in an effort to side-step the rules and moderation process are subject to automatic removal without notice. Firehouse.com reserves the right to expedite the reprimand process for any users as it is deemed necessary. Any user in the moderation process may be required to review and agree to by email the terms and conditions listed above before their account is re-instated (except for those that are banned).

    Job Summary

    The Firefighter is responsible for protecting lives and property from fire by performing rescue and fire fighting operations that involve fires, vehicle accidents, and natural disasters.

    Principal Accountabilities
    ?Perform search, rescue, and fire fighting operations involving fires, accidents, floods, bomb incidents, and spillage of dangerous substances
    ?Safely and efficiently operate emergency response vehicles, equipment, and tools
    ?Operate hand and power tools to ventilate structures, position and climb ladders, pull hoses from truck bed and connect to hydrant and pump apparatus, and operate water charged hose lines of various sizes to combat fires
    ?Operate pumps, foam generators, boom and ground sweep nozzles, and other similar equipment
    ?Perform salvage and overhaul operations to minimize damage
    ?Participate in station drills and emergency procedures training
    ?Respond to hazardous materials emergencies in accordance with requirements
    ?Perform other duties as assigned

    Knowledge & Skills
    ?Ability to make sound decisions quickly under stressful conditions and perform duties under hazardous conditions requiring considerable physical exertion
    ?Ability to communicate effectively verbally and non-verbally

    Experience & Education
    ?Minimum one (1) year experience in fire fighting
    ?High School Diploma or equivalent

    Job Summary

    The Firefighter/EMT is responsible for responding as a team member of the fire and emergency crew to save lives; provide first aid; preserve property, the environment, and mission functions. Additionally, responsible for mitigating hazards during fires, medical emergencies, hazmat incidents, personnel rescues, natural disasters, aircraft incidents, and other emergency events.

    Principal Accountabilities
    ?Provides medical support for medevacs and marine department as needed.
    ?Maintain, inspect and submit requests to order EMS supplies and equipment.
    ?Conducts inspections, operations, testing, and first preventive maintenance to ensure readiness and serviceability of all apparatus, equipment, property, and personal protective equipment assigned.
    ?Performs all responsibilities of an EMT assigned to the ambulance and or engine companies.
    ?Conducts fire risk management surveys, company inspections and prepares pre-fire plans.
    ?Provides fire/EMS safety training and education to the work force to include CPR and EMR.
    ?Utilizes power and manual tools and equipment as may be required.
    ?Conducts quarterly facility inspections.
    ?Conducts fire ground tasks, functions and station duties.
    ?Work on other islands within the Atoll as part of an assigned crew performing duties associated with F&ES operations on those islands.
    ?Responds to off-duty recalls as required.
    ?Operates as a 911 Communications Center Operator (CCO) and dispatches crews accordingly.
    ?Attends all training, instructs classes as required, and participates in the DoD Firefighter Certification Program (FFCP) and physical fitness program.
    ?Performs other duties as assigned

    Knowledge & Skills
    ?Working under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, EMS Protocols, industry standards and accepted trade practices to mitigate medical emergencies.
    ?Following and participating in all company safety policies, procedures and programs.
    ?Effectively communicating with supervisors, co-workers and the community in a professional manner.
    ?Completion of Patient Care Reports in the Emergency Reporting Data Base.
    ?Thoroughly understanding policies, rules, regulations, practices and procedures of the F&ES organization.

    Experience & Education
    ?High school graduate or equivalent.
    ◦Preferred Associates degree or higher in Fire Science.
    ?Two (2) years? of work experience as a professional firefighter/EMT.
    ?Graduate from a recognized Fire Academy resulting in International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Board or Fire Service Professional Qualifications (ProBoard), or Department of Defense (DOD) certification as a Firefighter I & II and Hazmat Awareness and Operations (HAZMAT Operations).
    ?Aircraft Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) certified by IFSAC, ProBoard (NFPQ), or DOD.
    ?Possess and maintain a current state or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) EMT license, and current CPR card.
    ?Possess DoD, ProBoard or IFSAC Driver Operator Pumper, Driver Operator ARFF, Driver Operator MWS
    ?Posses or have the ability to obtain Telecommunicator I and II certificate within three (3) Months of date of hire.
    ?Meet the requirements of NFPA 1582 Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments.
    ?Successful passing of the physical fitness exam IAW NFPA 1500, drug testing, and background investigation.
    ?Ability to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
    ?Preferred skill in using a personal computer and Microsoft Office programs.
    ?Preferred DOD, Pro Board, or IFSAC Certifications:
    ◦HAZMAT Technician
    ◦Inspector I
    ◦Instructor I
    ◦Officer
    ?Possess a current U.S. Passport or have the ability to obtain one before hire.
