Weird because Paterson also have their physical for the same date and place ..Im wondering if Csc is advising jurisdiction to schedule people for physical to have a update list and not necessarily because they are hiring, being that this process is long ..if that the case there will be alotttt of upset/anxious people when they dont hear back for a while ..even though the first thing that say on the certification is this does not guarantee a position

It appears that JC is in the #90-100 range for candidates

                • I think the plan with the new testing process is they are anticipating a concurrent 2 or 3 year lists from now on and certifying people only once in effort to avert any unnecessary time and money expenditures. which means if you have not yet been certified, it's likely you will not be for the duration of this list. So if you are one of the unfortunates who have not been certified, i wouldn't sweat, since the testing process will move along more swiftly. this will allow you another opportunity to test again in a couple years rather than the last time where you had to wait over 5 years if you bombed. Being that we are already a full year into this list, its likely notifications for another entry-level exam will be coming soon. Don't take any of this info to the grave, this is just my guess.

side note; now that the physical is not competitive and just pass/fail, you wont have to worry about training hard for it. if you cant complete that physical in under 5 minutes, personally, i don't think you're fit to be a FF.

i agree 100% ...csc is trying to use the LEE format in where they administrate the test every 3 year ..make no sense how LEE comes out every 3 years and for fire fighter you had to wait 5 plus year ..that just way to long..i suppose sign ups for the new Fire test will come out some time in july 18 but for now i just dont see paterson hiring after hiring 52 new fire fighter ..if anything the city is trying to expand their law enforcment i heard about 100 new officer with the new list that comes out .

Not many towns are hiring so I doubt it...most of the towns hired alot of guys prior the closing of the 2010 list due to the way the grant deadline are.

Jersey City and Newark already put firefighters through the academy. Two of the biggest departments in the state. Not many other municipalities seem to be hiring as of yet. Take this with a grain of salt but there is a rumor floating around that 2015 list might be extended
