I have been following this forum on and off since I took the exam in 2014. I have a few questions that I have so far been unable to find the answers to, and any help would be much appreciated.

    1) Does anyone know the number/rank on the list the City left off at when hiring the last class of 2006 (specifically for non-preference candidates)
    2) Does anyone know when a new Paramedic exam will be offered?
    3) My number is 76**, and I have no preference points. Given that information, does anyone have any clue if I may get a solid chance at being processed before the list dies?

Any answers are truly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing the conversations with you guys going forward.

    1. It was around 2400 non-preference.
    2. Wedding Crasher provided a lot of good info in the above post
    3. Unfortunately not. It's disheartening to hear that (I was told the same info after receiving a lotto number around 12,000 on the 2006 exam), but also kind of liberating. There's no chance, so there's no holding onto false hope. Hopefully you'll be young enough to take the next fire and/or paramedic exam.

Thanks for the info man. I am a full time FF/Medic and love it so far, but a chance to get on the job in Chicago is the dream.

I'm in my mid 20s so I'm hoping to get a shot at the next medic exam. Didn't have my IL reciprocity done soon enough last time unfortunately!

Not to be nosey but just wondering if this was due to something they saw in your medical or was it the next step in processing? I did my medical in early Feb so just wondering. Thanks

        • Just left my medical follow up. There were about 10 to 15 more people there to schedule their medical exams. Dr supposedly only has about half of the people cleared for the next class and they plan to have a big class this time. The plan is to have one in April, but seeing that he has only that much cleared he doesn?t think that will happen although he didn?t completely rule it out.

Is this the first time you go through processing?
If not, did you have to see Dr Wong last time?

                • This is the first I?m seeing Dr. Wong. Hopefully there?s nothing wrong to continue this process. What else is there to do once Dr. Wong clears you?

                  • I went yesterday for my follow up and went to my doctor. This morning I went back to Dr. Wong and turned in my necessary documentation. Got a call that I was cleared for the next class.

When was your medical? I am trying to figure out where the doctor is in his reviewing of the files. If he goes in order, of course.

Did you thanks, and is that class still 4/16? lol

                          • Don?t you only get a call from the dr. If there was something wrong in your results? Pretty sure they told us that in the medical meeting.

                            • Yea he called me to tell me I was cleared I was also surprised lol. Doc told me class is slotted for April, but he wouldn?t be surprised if it was yet again delayed due to the high number of candidates they want in the class and he only has about half cleared. Ultimately HR has final say in start date so he really has no for sure answer is what he said.

Are they still planning on 125 for this class or even more than that?
