What exactly does this mean "THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION". I know it's probably due to the safer grant. But once that runs out, does that mean the position will be eliminated?

I'm not sure but I know maybe 2yrs back they layed off 70 something firefighters. They hired a few of them back last year and a few others got picked up by my dept. I really haven't heard anything about their budget problems lately.
When the grant runs out in a couple years the county will either pick you up or let you go. The grant actually started last year. they are hiring 12 guys from that group, therefore opening up more spots for the grant position.
They recently remodeled one station. They will be rebuilding station 11 starting in April and rebuilding station 1 after that. They are trying to get an order for 8 engines and 2 ladders, which i believe is going to be a lease purchase. obviously, nothing set in stone until it's done, but sounds like they are doing something good.
