    It's not a personal attack. We are all in your corner. We have ALL been in your position. Take a deep breath and reread your doctor's letter. If he does recommend wearing a brace, see if he will change it. Many of us are washed up athletes and have pre-existing injuries. We overcame it, you can too.

      During my time on the job, I had both knees injured at different times and operated on.

      Having said that, I had to go before the department doctor, after I was cut loose form the orthopedic doctor who on both cases, had approved me to return to duty. The department doctor essentially ran me through the city's rules and procedures for injured body parts, i.e. joints, and I passed that exam and test with flying colors and was then returned to work.

      If you have had surgery and everything is back to normal, then you should have any problem.
