I was wondering are there normal procedure questions that are asked and if so, how many questions do you have to get wrong to fail? Basically, how can you determine if the person passed/failed? Also, what type of questions are asked?

I was asked everything from drug use to sexual questions to other things I have done. The only way to fail the test is to lie. That being said, if you tell the truth about all of the hardline drugs you have done and other crazy things you have accomplished in your life that are frowned upon by law enforcement it may still disqualify you from moving forward in the process. Basically tell the truth on everything and you will "pass". Just depends on how much crazy stuff you have done that will determine if you move forward.

Are you married? Have you children?

Do you like males ? Do you like females?

Have you ever been with a man? Have you ever been with a female?

Have you ever did a homosexual act? Did you initiate anything or did some one else initiate it?

Do you look at porn? Do you do drugs? What kind of drugs did you do?

Do you go to church regularly?

Have you ever been arrested? Have you bad credit?

How many speeding tickets have you had?

Have you ever.......? Did you ever......?

I've had the opportunity to take three polygraphs, all of them related to law enforcement employment. Although asking the sexual questions isn't all that unusual, only one of the three of mine contained any sexually-related material.

The examiner will ask you all of the questions before he or she hooks you to the machine, and you'll answer all of the questions beforehand. Then you'll be asked all of the same questions while you're hooked up, and then you'll be asked those same questions again while you're still hooked up. Then the test is over.

My last one showed "inconsistencies" in my answer to drug use. It goes to show that the tests aren't always 100% reliable, as not only have I never used any kind of drug, I've never even smoked a cigarette. Nevertheless, I still got the job after the background investigator did some more checking.

My experience is similar to what boxalarm posted. The only sexually related question was if I had had any sexual relations with a minor and I think there was something to do with child porn maybe. Don't really remember.

Other questions had to do with stealing from employer, shoplifting, speeding, trespassing, drugs, drunk driving, unknown crimes, selling drugs, buying stolen items, etc.

I will say that all 3 times that I have taken the test, I have left feeling like I failed the test only to find that I passed with no concerns. Others may experience theirs differently, but just wanted to pass that along.

            Good luck.

Have you ever had a sexual experience with anyone under the age of 12?

My department gave me a huge packet to fill out prior to the test

Oh, and arson/playing with fire/lighting illegal fires too. Can't imagine why they'd want to know that.

Pretty sure they cannot legally ask you those questions, and if they did, they cannot discriminate hiring based on them.
