I dont know if i am in the wrong section, so sorry in advance. I have been looking on this forum for awhile now and just had a question that i cant find when i searched. I have seen you get extra points on your civil exam for being a vet and was wondering if theres any other thing that gives you points in advance like a college degree, being a medic or knowing a second language?

    thanks

Depends on the department. Most common "bonus points" come from military experience and foreign language in my experience. Some departments require you to have college credits before applying.

Depends on the department. When applying you need to review the actual application documents.
Typically they give 5 points for Vets, there are some other factors that can come into play depending on the part of the nation you are applying for. Language, college, ect. These are all department specific, and there is no one answer.

well i hope to work for san bernardino county and just looked on their online application form and it asked about prior military service and about a second language didnt say anything about extra points for them but i assume they give them if they are asking or that their important to have to get in the department

if anyone has any relevant info about san bernardino county specifically their mountain division it would also be greatly appreciated

        thanks again
