    The Fort Wayne Fire Department will be accepting applications for lateral transfer firefighters from January 3, 2011 until 4:00 p.m. January 21, 2011.

    Minimum requirements:

    Must be a current full-time, paid, employee with an Indiana career fire department for at least one year. “Full-time employee” shall be defined as a person who works a minimum of 40-56 hours per week, is compensated and receives full-time employee benefits.
    CPAT Certification not older than 1 year from January 3, 2011.
    The following valid firefighting certification through Indiana Department of Homeland Security:

    Firefighter I/II
    EMT/B or higher
    Hazardous Materials Operations
    Tech Rescue Awareness

    A candidate who meets all of the above qualifications, but has been laid off from their career department, will be eligible as long as the layoff date is not prior to January 3, 2010.
    Must not be older than 36 years of age by graduation date of the Academy (estimated to be September 30, 2011)
    *FWFD will be offering CPAT testing beginning January 17, 2011. You must have your CPAT certification no later than March 19, 2011.

    Applications may be picked-up at the Fire Administration Office, 307 E. Murray Street, Ft. Wayne, IN 46803. Applications are also available at www.fortwaynefiredepartment.org.

    Applications must be received at the Fire Administration Office by 4:00 p.m. January 21, 2011 or postmarked by January 21, 2011. Applications will be accepted by e-mail.
