  • Opinion Oriented Questions?

What is the basis for choosing the correct answer for opinion oriented type questions?

For example, "I work better by myself than w/ others..."
For example, "I get along well with my family members..."
For example, "I'd rather work with machines, than w/ people..."

    Strongly Agree
    Agree
    Not Sure
    Disagree
    Strongly Disagree

How are these type questions even graded w/o a grader knowing anything about myself?

they will ask you the same question, but worded differently. looking to see if you answer it the same both times. never use strongly disagree unless its putting you or your team killed

That's a really good question. I never understood how they graded that portion...I understand checking consistancy in answers, but I don't know. It's one of those portions of testing that noone ever knows the answer to!

Like how the hell does the scorer know how my relationship with my family really is?!?!

"I have a good relationship w/ my family." Of course I agree but lets say...my father beat the crap out of me when I was little, and he was drunk 24/7/365. Of course I'm going to say Strongly Disagree, because my dad beat me up everyday until I was 18.

        I don't get it.

Exactly, they only know what you tell them unless its written down somewhere they can look. These are psych questions designed to eliminate you from the process rapidly. I'll have more on this subject soon, but here are a few things to consider right now:

          1. I repeat...these are designed to quickly ELIMINATE you before you become a bigger expense...not hire you. Which person would you want to eliminate (if you were a psychologist who cared most about not being sued because a serial killer got through the hiring process). Answer accordingly.

          2. Lack of decisiveness and consistency is considered a negative on these "exams".

          More to come.

Don't OVER read into questions either.. thats what people screw up too often.

Using agree and disagree is appropriate. NEVER be neutral. Use Strongly agree and disagree for bold statements and you will be safe. Good luck!
