Did anyone applying for Austin apply for the Nashville, TN FD?
If so, I was wondering if the written test for Austin might be in the same format as Nashville was (Personality, mechanical, Math, etc). There were 4 parts to the Nashville test. Any info will be helpful.

Click on this link..... It should be blue lettering at the top of the yellow backdrop box.

Click here to see the list of Fire Cadet applicants qualified for the written exam

And look for your Candidate ID Number..... If it's there, then congrats..... If not, don't let it discourage you stick with it.....

4661 are on the eligable list for Fire Cadet (if my math is right, I got a D+ in college algebra).

About 480 people were eligable for the Senior Fire Cadet test taken on the 11th of this month. We had 21 people from my department take that test.

It will be interesting, heard from an Austin BC that they are not sure what the make up will be for hiring; # of Senior Fire Cadets, # of Fire Cadets, Total # they are planning on hiring.

I did not take it, but will be interested in seeing the results. They are doing the Senior Fire Cadet class to save on budget... they don't have to put these guys through a FFI and II course. The people who tested from my department are pretty sharp, if enough of them make it it will also change the face of my department. It will also give me much Over Time, as I am an OT whore.

No word as I'm typing this..... The AFD website is only showing those qualified for the Written Test (Fire Cadet). Reckon we'll find out tomorrow.....

I visited Marble Falls FD, Horseshoe Bay FD and a few other FDs. Marble Falls was going to hire based on (2) retirements (haven't heard about them taking apps. yet). Burnet FD I've heard hires occasionally so you may want to check with them......

Well, just checked the list and the document was unable to find my Candidate ID #, so I'm not moving onto the Oral Boards. For those that are moving on, congrats, good job and best of luck/fortune.

Now, the question is if I passed and did not make the upper 2/3 or just did not pass. I am going to send an email to HR to find out. They are saying that it could take from 3-4 weeks, but I'll wait to find out.

For those that sent encouraging messages thanks..... For those that work in the area and your Department's going to test, feel free to send me a P.M. This little bump in the road is not going to discourage me, I still want to work in that area.

The Chief told me this in June of 2010, it's another Department I'd really like to work for; great Guys.
