Anyone know what the base increase for ALS is? Also, is there an auto pay increase once out of the academy? Thanks for any input.

I emailed the HR department and they let me know the ALS stipend is $11,575.20 per year. It is not technically a base pay increase so the over time would not adjust upwards.

Additionally, it is not awarded upon hire. Precepting has to be completed and you have to be released prior to earning the stipend.

      Good luck to anyone applying.

        What the work sched like?
The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

It depends on the station and assignment. There are some 24/72's, some 7/12's and a few 5/12's. Some of the 7/12 stations have a 24/72 medic assigned to them.

            I've heard of 24/48's and 24/96's but not those. What's a 24/72 a 7/12 and a 5/12?

24 hours on, 72 off. The 7/12 is daywork, 6am to 6pm. The schedule works in a 2 week cycle: wwoowww...2nd week is oowwooo. The 5/12 is a Monday thru Friday (daywork) schedule with rotating days off. Some weeks you work 4 days, some 3 days, and one week you work 2 days. All the shifts work out to be a 42 hour work week

Not to beat a dead horse on the work schedule issue, but do all medics have a 24/72 schedule?

Also, is it set up as a chase car system or medic ambos?

                Thanks.

No, some medics work 7/12 and currently one ALS buggy on a 5/12. All but the ALS buggy are a medic ambo with an EMT-B driver.

First of all learn to spell before you start putting your gibblish in here.

Stay where you are as you probably couldn't make it down here. The lady firefighters would pin your ears back, out showing you.

Stay Safe and Well Out There....

You are assigned to a firehouse right out of the academy. Whether or not you stay long depends on several "factors". You can be moved to any firehouse at any time. Some people stay in a firehouse for 5-6 years, some have been with the department for 2 years and been moved 5 different times. Some people get promoted in place. Some houses are better than others

I believe I heard they had approval for 35 from the BoS meeting the other day and it might start in March or April.
