  • Firefighting or Fire Investigator/Inspector

I guess this is a question for the more experience guys that know a lot about this. I am 22 years old, currently have my firefighter I & II, 3 more months of medic school, and about 2 1/2 years of college from universities. My goal is to become a firefighter/medic for a department but at the same time, being young and motivated to stay in school, would it be worth it to try and go to school to get my Investigator or inspecting license or just work for a department? Im not sure how you get a job as an inspector or investigator so I was maybe wondering if someone had some insight. Also, if I did go to school for that would it count towards CE for my fire I & II card?

    THank you.

    What state are you in

You need to find out the city/state requirements for both jobs

Different departments work differently on how you progress to those jobs

Any education will benefit you on any job you do

Also there is the possibility of working on the private side on your days off

Also for future in case you get hurt or other reasons you have a back up
