This department does do polygraphs as well. Do I put it? My current dept. doesnt polygraph and I never put I did, but this new one does.

Back when you did this, you probably had no idea what you may want to do for the next 30 or so years.

Too many kids do this thinking that it will be ok and no one will ever know. On your best day, you can't fool the poly as they ask questions that may be in reverse of what they already have asked to see if you are really telling the truth.

Too many people applying for job have never smoke anything or did any type of drugs except was prescribed by a physician.

Put it in the application and be prepared to answer question about it if you get to the interview stage. Don't lie on the poly, answer the questions as true as you can.

You would be surprised as far and deep they go looking.

    Background

We went deep and wide. If you are trying to hide it we will find it. Neglecting to answer all questions honestly will result in you looking else where for a Firefighter position.

Ok. I was younger and having guys tell me to not put it if they didnt polygraph, even guys from that dept.
I hope the Background Investigator from the new one doesn't go that deep, because I have very good chances of getting the job there.

    Application

I'll say this one more time......answer all questions honestly and openly. If you are caught in one lie on your application then there will be another one on your form somewhere. I've seen it many times......even if you think your record is sealed ....trust me when I say this. It's not!!!

You're in a pickle now. Yes, you must disclose this stuff. Period. If you don't, they'll probably find out in the polygraph and you'll be disqualified. They might even still disqualify you if they ask anything along the lines of "have you ever falsified an official document" or something like that. You might be able to squeak by one process like you did, but it will come back and bite you in the rear end later (like your situation now).

Here's what could happen since you falsified your original application (and signed it saying you were honest in completing it). You disclose it now, to be honest. With your waiver that you have signed, the new dept contacts your current dept and looks at your original application. They find the discrepancy and you are disqualified from their process for integrity. Depending on how they are allowed to share information, you may lose your current job if they too find out you lied on their application.

So many consequences are before you now. It will depend on how thorough the BGI is for this new job.

YES! Be up-front about it. You don't want to be kicked out of the process for not being truthful.

    Daaa???

Simple. 3 times is not a deal breaker. It you don't put it down and they find it or the poly turns up some questionable conclusions you're toast.
