hey, i am looking a pager. I have some scanners but they are to big to carry all the time. The thing is I do not have any money so I was hoping maybe someone may just have an old one laying around the house or at the station.

Look for VHF pagers as that is the kind you will need. Your local radio shop can put in the tone filters, reeds, etc, or if you are lucky, someone on your dept can do it.

why not just have your department give you a pager or is there a reason why they haven't given ya a pager?

Not all departments give juniors and explorers pagers.

is there a specific reason why they don't give Jr.'s pagers? Perhaps it's a safety/accountability issue over a "jr.'s don't deserve them" reason. you may wanna consult your department..

........or because the dept. doesn't have extra pagers lying around.........or they just don't feel like giving them to the explorers.

Things are done differently everywhere.

Better yet, is there a specific reason Juniors should have pagers? I don't see one, and its for the safety reason.

You can have mine. It is a pest!!! When the batteries run done, I may get around to changing it, maybe not too!




Can't see why an explorer would really have a need for one, where a scanner would be ok for you. Before you say, I can't carry a scanner around with me, as I can't get a long enough extension cord! I was thinking about a hand held scanner and not a table model.

Why should they not have one?? Our explorers run fire calls with us. They set up the tarp and run gofer for us
