The CPAT is the Candidate Physical Agility Test. Its basically an agility test that consist of 8 events...Stair climb, hose drag, equipement carry, ladder raise/hallured pull, forcible entry, search, rescue and ceiling breach and pull. It wasnt bad at all just the stairs got to me.

There is not any kind of physical agility test required of our explorers. Our FD has one.....http://www.rossfordfire.com/test.html that is required of all new hires. We have thrown around the idea of letting the explorers voluntarily do the physical agility test, but there is no way that we can require it.

We've done it once but there was no certification involved.

our cpat is not that hard at all if you are in shape...i think it is mostly used to thread out those that are not fit enough for the job...not to test how physically strong you are...

If it happens that we have an Explorer who will be taking our depts test, we will spend one day letting the practice and what not. I myself have never done it though.

I do. I had to take that test to get into the academy where I am located at. One of two physical exams.
