My post always did car washes at the local mall, they worked great, you get some kids out there washing cars and if you can get it, a reserve engine (we were lucky enough to have access to one in Aurora) and tour little kids on the engine while the mommies and daddies get their cars washed for 5-10 dollars a pop, Most people gave us 20, one guy donated 200 in cash, went to the ATM and pulled it out for us. Also, try to set it up with a store like Target or walmart who will usually do gain matching. We made 2000, and target donated another 2000 to us. Also, if you have any kids who are 18+ who are EMT-Bs, have a blood pressure screening set up in a local pharmacy or senior care center and ask for donations.

I just think it's a shame that this is what our schools are putting out today. No one seems to know/no the difference between their/there/they're or where/wear or even care. Spell check can only help with the spelling of the word not the meaning and too/to/two many people rely on it too/to/two much.

No problem brother, being an explorer post low on funds can really suck. Also i just thought about our city events, try to set up with your town for festival days(4th of July, Memorial, Labor...all of those days) and just kind of have a face painting/ engine tour/ balloon thing, you know for the kids, and kindly ask for donations and give hand outs on what the explorers do. Its what we did.

I know you posted over in EMS, but why over 18 and have their EMT card?

Well that would just be for legal reasons i guess. I mean if you live in a state where someone under 18 can obtain EMT-B or the equiv, and you feel its appropriate, i'd say let them do it too. Here in Illinois/Nationally you have to be 18 to be an EMT-B

I couldn't figure out how to edit, but when i second read your question (After my post) i realized you were wondering why do you have to be an EMT-B, and the reasoning behind that is....1. I dont think a pharmacy or store would feel comfortable with someone who isn't a certified and registered health professional giving people medical information. 2. I know that there are talented explorers out there who know how to do an Aus BP and Palp BP, but as long as they dont hold a certificate of some form saying legally that doing it is inside of their "Scope of Practice" i wouldn't let them for legal reasons. Remember, everyone is looking to sue anyone over anything for alot of money. If some lady can sue McDonalds for spilling coffee on her lap, then im sure they could have an Explorer, Post, or Dept hung out to try.
