Go get the TV show Emergency and learn where the public got a quasi-realistic view of firefighters. It is also credited with spreading EMS throughout the country.

      Best movie: The Towering Inferno

My 2 cents...I was an explorer 17 years ago.

I have to go old school (as in, older than I am) and say Emergency! That show was great. I need to download the Squad 51 tones as my ringtone.

Also, Third Watch was good in the beginning when it wasn't JUST a cop show.

Courage is not the abscence of fear, but the realization that there is something more important than fear.

Real firefighters are trying to forget it. Thanx for reminding us again what a horrible show it was.

Real firefighters???? These are shows that were out over two decades ago and what was on t.v. when you were probably a twinkle in mommy and daddys eye. Sittin at the buff house watching backdraft and ladder 49 barely makes for real firefighters.

This is my 32nd year in the fire service. Don't think I was a "twinkle" back then.

The show stunk, was panned by firefighter while it was on. Doesn't matter if it was 20 years ago or not, it stunk. It did not use approved practices and was not realistic.

                        Go twinkle that.

Rescue me is good, but the fire service is only a background, the human drama is the show.

Emergency was great, it still runs on Sundays where I live.

Backdraft was OK, but there are so few firefighting movies, you just have to own them all I suppose.

I really like Ladder 49, a very good flick.

The Towering Inferno is a classic 70s disaster film, and Steve McQueen is a total badass when he jumps from the helicopter in the entry suite onto the roof of the building with the explosives.

Rescue 911 was good as a kid, but I can't stand it now, to cheesy.

Reruns of Paramedics and The Bravest are still good to watch.

Firehouse USA is good to, but i hate the Boston accent!

Bringing Out the Dead is a very good EMS movie.

That about sums it up for me,
