  • Research about how your department handles issuing uniforms to your employees

We are researching how different fire departments handle issuing their uniforms. Stipen based or quota based? How much per firefighter, ect. We are trying to see if the way we handle our uniforms could be done in a more economical way. We currently use a quota based system. We issue some of our stuff from in house and some from outside. We have 584 full time employees, 36 companies, 25 stations, and run nearly 40,000 calls per year. All responses are welcome

After the initial issue, which is typically 5 pants, 5 polos, t-shirts, long sleeve and short sleeve dress shirts, three-season coat, 2 badges, nametags and 1 pair of work boots, each member gets a $400 per year uniform allowance.

That is pretty consistent with the combination and full-time departments in our area.
Train to fight the fires you fight.
