  • Choosing a Fire College

I'm looking into going to take take my firefighter training at a fire college and I just need some advice as to what to look for when choosing the fire college...

Some of the the things i would be looking for:
    - Cost
    - Location
    - Offer the firefighting program
    - Duration of Program
    - Program Pre-Requisites

Is there something else that i should be looking for in a fire college/program?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks,
    John

      MN.

Would the college/academy tell you if there's an additional state test if you ask?

        they should

best advice is find the nearest paid fire station and walk in set down and ask them what is requred in MN to apply to become a firefighter, before you waste alot of time and effort.

and on top of that call these people:::

          Thanks Fire49!

I will do as you reccomeneded as this seems like the best logical approach.

          Appreciate the advice..

I'm assuming these steps will work in any state:
          1) Walk in nearest paid fire station and ask whats required to become a firefighter in STATE
          2) Double check by calling and verifying with STATE Fire Service Certification board or equivelent.
