  • Lt test while on deployment?

we are at a very interesting juncture with a promotion being needed of almost 3-4 lt's in the next year. the issue is that we have a firefighter who is eligible for the test but is serving in the military oversees currently. he does have down time but is in the hot zone.

the question is has anybodys department set up a tele-test or other types of assestments for those deployed or are we just going to have to wait until he comes back?

    thanks

    background - 33 ff/pm department career, 9 lt's, 3 capts. 2 stations well-to-do fiscally

We've had that scenario ourselves a few times. Our civil service rulles allow for deployed members to tak the test at their location. It's set up for a Senior NCO or Officer, preferably not in their unit or chain-of-command, to administer and proctor the exam.

The biggest stipulation is that they MUST take it at the same time it is being administered to everyone else in order to retain the integrity of the exam. Sucks to be the guy taking a promotional exam at 0200.

We've had the same situation arise, and as long as it was an officer from another unit that administered the test it was ok. They did have to take it at the same time as the main group.
