we want to put a radio in our mack cf baker it is positive ground , the radio people are all not quit sure how to handle it

the are saying to isolate the mount but if the microphone touches the dash it will burn something in the radio out, how do i handle the antenae?

how about using a astron converter , do i need to still worry about the microphone , how about antenae?

any other ideas?

Find a place to install a separate battery to power just the radio. Do not connect this battery to anything else on the truck. Use a trickle charger to keep it charged. Not high tech but it will work.

The only good clean way to do an install like this is to use a DC to DC positive ground to negative ground converter. Have done several of these types of radio installations in positive ground cement mixer trucks etc... You can try to isolate the mounts, or use another battery etc...but YOU WILL have trouble with it someday. Use the converter, costs a little more, but its the best way to go.

Antenna doesn't care. But the IC boards in the radio do.Get the positive grd to neg ground converter and you'll be fine. T.C.

If you use a DC to DC converter you'll be fine. You won't have to worry about isolating the metal parts of the radio....
