I am curious how many of you/us have ever been pissed off and purposely destroyed a cell phone - either your own or someone else's.

Wife thinks I need committed. All of the voices I hear tell me I am normal.

We were over 100% at my station. Some of the guys had destroyed more than 1!!

Never destroyed one on purpose.....left it too close the edge of the counter and my beagle used it for a chew toy.

I have, however; flung mine across a room and it flew out of the holder and the battery disconected, but when I put it back together the thing still worked.....must not have put enough ooomph behind it?;)

I have terrible luck with cell phones. I go though at least 3 chargers a year because they just stop working or work it certain positions. I have never purposly broke a phone, but I am on my third razor.

The first one just stopped working one day. I was on warrenty though so that one was replaced for free.

The second had a hard time. I cracked the front screen when I tried to answer it in a shoppers and dropped it. Then the screen continued to crack and chip away until the point that it stopped working.

After I got it replaced I walked into the firehouse acting like I was talking on the phone and got really pissed and threw it at the ground. It broke into like 5 pieces. Everyone gave me "The what the _____ did you do!?!" look.

Now the outer screen on my third one doesn't work either. I opened it one day, and it hit my desk and now all I get is a blue screen instead of the picture.

This thread only proves the cell phone companies need to research a firefighter resistant phone. We all know there is no such thing as firefighter proof...:D :p :D

Well which story do you want. I have lots.

1st phone- it used to cut out all the time one day I got tired of it and just busted it in two
2nd- run over by a grain truck
3rd- dropped off the top of a grain elevator (day after phone 2)
4th- my girlfriend broke
5th- hit it with the fork lift
6th- tossed in a bon fire by an ex
7th- dog chewed up
8th- run over by the BRT on the way out the door to a fire

I'd sure like to sometimes... but I never have.
I'm on #3 in 2 and a half years...
1st- Someone changed the language to spanish and in the process of finding English, I changed the programming somehow, or so the Verizon Technician told me.
2nd- Contract was up, so U wanted the phone to go out with a BANG. What a great time I had explaining that one to the salesman at Verizon when I turned it in.
The one I have now--- Been through 5 holsters since early June. Almost lost the phone while doing some typical teenage exploring in the woods in Pennsylvania... I've thrown this phone at the wall and the ground moretimes that I can count on my fingers and toes, but it's a brick.
I've been pretty lucky...
I'll second blsboy's, "Thank God I have insurance."

Ha, I had one exactly like that about 15, 20 years. It was big enough you had a hard time loosing it and boy could it take a beating.

Also on my third one in a year I keep finding new ways to destroy them. Thank God for ebay. Purchase my last on ebay got top of the line LG for $45.00 looks and works like new. Best part, no contract! And for $10 Veizon even transferred my phone book to the new phone. I sure # 4 is not far off.

How many of you dropped one in the toilet? That was number 2 in July

I don't know if these count as premeditated technocide but....
The second cell phone that I've owned took two tries to kill.I first dropped it in a ditch on a snowy day medical assist while transferring a patient from a member's 4x4 to an ambulance that couldn't handle the snow. The water under the snow ruined the screen but the phone worked.I had to answer the phone to see who was calling me so I kept getting called into work on my days off.
The second assassination attempt was more successful.I'd had a rather loud break up chat with my girlfriend and to cool down,I set the phone on the utility truck box while fuelling a couple department vehicles.
After signing for the gas and diesel,I got back in the utility truck and drove back to the station whereupon I realized that the cell phone was not on my belt.I hunted in the truck and around the bay for it,and came to the conclusion that I'd left it at the gas station. When I went back,I found it all right.Right where it had fallen off and gone under the left dually.
All I could do for it was buy a new one, transfer the minutes to it,send the pieces that I could gather back for recycling and turn a glass over for it that night.
Its replacement has been under a sweeper truck in a local Wally world p lot.Still works.Tracfone uses some damn tough Motorolas.

I never broken a cell phone.. lost one... what a pain in the arse!

I do have a cop friend who pullled over a guy for speeding. As he approached the vehicle, the driver handed him his cell phone and said "speak to my lawyer..."

He did. He said hello, and porceeded to toss the cell phone into the woods.

To think he was going to give the guy a verbal warning... He ended up with a hefty ticket! :D :p :D

I pity the soul that had that phone in his pocket when then the steel rod hit...;)
