I have a question. I saw on this site some time ago a thread about painting leather helmets. Now I cant seem to find it. Anyone know what kind of paint is used on leather helmets? Thanks in advance for the information.

"One Shot" sign enamel works very well. It is sold at thefirestore.com as leather helmet paint. You may be able to find it cheaper at a local arts and crafts or hardware store. I small can will do 2 or 3 helmets. If your brim bends from heat, it will crack some, but I have had no problem with big chips comming off(which is a big problem with the paint used from the factory now)

If you want to be really traditional, you could go try and find a lead-based paint like cairns used to use before they switched to the Sherwin Williams flaky-as-hell enamel. if your not that committed, find a flat or matte high heat paint and finish it with an enamel clear coat. you will get a paint job that will hold up to some work and look new, but not so shiny you need your stunner shades.
