Did anyone who is currently working for a St. Louis County FD pay their own way through STL CO fire academy before they had a job secured? I am considering paying for academy if I can get accepted and I am just looking for some feedback to make sure it's worth it. I already have a job at a nearby FD and I have my paramedic license but the future looks brighter in STL CO. Do the academy graduates have a good chance of being hired?

Did you see if U. City is hiring? I know they usually will hire medics and send them to the academy. Im sure there are more that do that.

Because were all lazy:eek:
I got hired first and was sent in as a priority one, then I quit and paid the department back, it was well worth it.
I do know of a few people that have paid for the class and then found jobs. One took about three months to get a job and the other took around a year.

I don't have any info on the academy, but if you have your paramedic than you should have no problem getting on full time with someone.
