Footware for the Academy

I'm going to be starting an Academy soon and was wondering if anyone had advice on footware. I've always worn duty boots when volunteering or doing ride alongs, but now I've seen these oxford like station shoes. Anybody have any insight on this?

The instructors should let you know, as there may be a uniform boots they'll want you to have. If not, get something comfortable, light, and easily polishable. That's the important part, is they need to be able to polished easily...

i've heard open toed flip flops or sandals were ok, as long as you have nice feet and the legs for it ;)
