Hello I will start out with some background. I am currently doing high school and am in the fire academy at the same time. Im a senior in high school and I am going to a technical instute and have just completed Fire I and am starting fire 2 in a few days. I was wondering if after I complete fire 2 and am state certified if I joined the Armed Forces for 4 years would my certification be lost? I believe you have 3 years to volunteer or do paid before you lose your cert or is there some kind of way to keep it up because of military enlistment? I live in Florida btw and any feedback would help thanks a lot.

You could ask someone in the academy in Florida.

I must ask though, why are you in the fire academy, if you are enlisting, and your certification has an expiration if you aren't an active florida firefighter?

I am not 100% sure if I am enlisting. I want to enlist but my certification is more important then the military. The military is something I have wanted to do all of my life and firefighting was just something I have wanted to do for a year or two. Don't get me wrong I am glad I chose to go to the academy its taught me a lot I was just wanting to see if I could still get 4 years in the Marines in while I am still young and could start my career after.
