No experience required. The FD takes care of all training...including paramedic.

Good pay, plenty of time off, and more work (runs) than any fire department should have to do...yes that includes fires.

If you're ready, check out: http://www.toledofirerecruitment.com/

Hey 37truck, do you know if they give any points for already having your 240 card or medic card?

They might, but I'm pretty sure that everyone goes through the academy regardless. They might just not put you through medic school again. (Which if they did, would be ridiculously idiotic)

has anyone been contacted yet? i live in southwest michigan, so is there any chance for me to go through the academy? i've already taken FF I & II in MI and am a volunteer firefighter for South Haven.

There is no credit for holding any prior certification. However, it looks good when it comes to the interview process where they look at what you have done to prepare for a job in the fire service. You will go through TFD's fire academy regardless what certs you hold. During the EMT portion, you would most likely be detailed for ride time on Life Squads if you already hold a medic card. EMT's have to go through EMT again. The department does not require current medics to repeat medic school.

Now the well meaning brother from Rossford will have good information to pass along as well.
