Whats the deal with the list are they going to pull from the list anytime soon or is there no hope if your on the list ?

Latest rumor is they want to hire another 50 in maybe March or April. They are waiting on the mayor to sign off on that though so we'll see. If anyone else knows anything else please share.

In a old post someone said ther is 60 something people left on the list. When they sent our letters out they should have gave us a ranking order, im probably last on the list.

Per Chief Nolan on the news last night 25 started the first class and 19 will be graduating this afternoon. Nothing new about a second class.

I'm assuming they failed out because on teh news they said Chief Nolan said it's normal for about this many to not make it through. I know there were 2 females that started the class but didn't complete it, I don't know why though. The graduating class is all guys.

why is everything so political, why do they allow this , I dont care if they have to meet a certain ratio. This kind of practice is not fair or equal to other people thats have been trying for years to get on if you cant pass the cpat should not be hired at all

Another news report last night on WFSB said 19 graduated and 18 guys retired in the last 6 months alone. More then half the dept. has over 20 years so can retire anytime. They also said this is the first class in over 5 years and the NEXT CLASS WILL FOLLOW RIGHT BEHIND.

A total of 60 people are going to be hired this time around. There will be 2 days of backround meetings, this Thurs. and Fri., so all offers should be made by then. They want to start the academy ASAP and they are already funded for all 60 recruits so things SHOULD move along pretty quickly.

Word in the firehouses today is that only 15-20 calls have been made for initial conditional offers. They don't want to overwell HPD with all the backgrounds at once. Supposedly they are also in the process of hiring and doing backgrounds for HPD class. Anyone who has not gotten a call should sit tight.

we were told yesturday at our background meeting that there were two groups of about 35 going thursday and friday. 10 people were alternates from what i gathered.

Physicals are starting today I have mine this afternoon. All signs are pointing towards a May 5th start date but nothing official yet.

Either way you will get notified of the outcome. Backgrounds are done for the 70 that were selected (10 alternates) and medicals are underway.

We didnt have time to introduce ourselves during the background meeting. So i really dont know. The detectives were working us through the paperwork and finger prints for a couple of hours. No one stayed behind to chat cuz it took longer than anyone expected.

Yes I have recieved both a phone call first and then a letter stating we will be starting May 5th. Scotts48 also recieved the same thing. Are you sure you're not a backup? I would call Faye and inquire.

you just have to wait. The odds are in your favor with the larger class. just be ready, DONT wait to get in shape b/c if you do get the call you want to be right where the others are physically. Know what im saying? keep up hope
