Schaumburg Fire Department

Schaumburg Fire Department is currently going through their testing process for Firefighter. Has anyone heard how many people they are looking to hire for the 2008 calendar year? Seems to be based on the retirement of current staff but no word on how many are expected to retire. Any info?

I've heard upwards of 25 people are eligible to retire, whether or not they do is the ?...

I'm also very interested in this as well but from what I've heard they're talking 2009.

Actually, the "dirty thirty" are scheduled to retire in 2 years, I think. Some will go sooner, some later, but there will be a large hiring at this time. Schaumburg typically has hired at least one person every year for the last 20 years. We were in a hiring freeze a couple years ago due to one engine being taken out of service. As guys retired or pensioned out, they did not hire.
