Does anyone have any info about the department. Does anyone work there ? How many are they hiring ?
Any other FDs in NC hiring ?
I am from MI. FFI/II / EMT-P / 4 yrs P.O.C / Haz opps. Will my FF transfer ?
Do the FDs run ALS ?

No fire departments around here are ALS services, at least not Winston Salem, Greensboro, or Charlotte. Charlotte should be starting their process again in January, Winston Salem will be starting again in...October 2008 (thats just a guess) and Greensboro does the continuous hiring cycle.

Are there any plans that the FD will be goin ALS in the near future? Is my medic veiwed as a value then or is it over looked ? I have read the Greensboro info @ the web site but, can u clear up the continuous hiring thing? Do they do it to keep a list or are they hiring due to growth and/or retirement. Any #'s. The department looks wealthy and progressive or is that just the web site. Thanks

IIRC, The continuous hiring term means that they accept applications year round, and you application is good for a set amount of time, usually one year.

Other cities only accept application during a set time frame before vacancies for a Recruit Class are filled.

I work for Greensboro Fire. Take my word. Go to Charlotte. They have a much better retirement system than any other Dept in the State.
