We are in the process of choosing a manufacturer to build us a new tower quint. We have been looking hard at Crimson. They seem to be a great builder. We heard recently that Wheaton, IL returned theirs and got a refund. Can anyone tell me why? Was there a problem? We don't want to make the same mistake. If you don't want to list it here in this forum please e-mail me albert_keith_g@sbcglobal.net

The thing was out of service more then in. The Chief got fed up. I believe this was the first tower Crimson ever built.

I don't work in Wheaton but my tax dollars paid for that crappy rig. Like mike said it was oos way more then it was in. I'm not 100% sure of its status right now.
Wheaton has a crimson engine that seems rather nice. It responds past my home to Wheaton college several times a day and it seems to always be in service. So I don't know if it is Crimson or just that rig.

I tried to call the cheif last week and he wouldn't return my call. He probably doesn't want to get involved in this issue. I just want to know what the story is because EVERY other dept I've talked to loves Crimson and can't say enough about them. So this shocked me. I heard it was the first arial Crimson built. If so is this why it has so many problems? Is it their service dealer? What kind of problems were they?

They signed an agreement not disclose the return of the apparatus - however do the math the truck is longer there and they have a check.

A friend of mine from Arlington TX was telling me they just rejected the last aerial from Crimson (it is the one posted on the Crimson delivery site). He said nobody from the department could take about why as they had to sign an agreement with Crimson. He did tell me they had 2 Smeal 105's currently on order.
