I was under the impression that vollie department could go no higher than a 3/4. But, looking at the map its very small in area as well as being a private fire company in a gated community. According to the webpages of one they have a population of only 27 people. Nice looking place though. And congrats all the same.

There are several volunteer Class 1 departments across the country, the most famous of which is probably in Fallon, Nevada. Any department can earn a Class 1... All it has to do is earn the points.

See there are smart people with money in Arkansas. The thing that helped them was having water close by, and 33 people for only 500 acres. My dept cover 12 square miles, with about 15 people. And most of our dist doesn't hydrants at all. And the other half have a sub-par water system. For those of you that are "from off" my dept is the norm for most of rural Arkansas.
